Phil Marshall - Live from the Desert
Running the toughest race on earth - 151 miles across the Sahara
Day 1
That is definitely the hardest thing I have ever done. I did 33km today 13 of which were in highest sand dunes in Africa it was soul destroying thinking when were they going to end. It took me 8. 5 hours my legs hurt but no real blisters a couple of guys in our tent have had to go to the clinic for blister treatment
The set up here is unbelievable the backup and doctors are fantastic
A few people have dropped out today lots of people were saying it was the hardest first stage ever
We're you able to track me on the internet or get the results on the website
One of the guys in the tent wants to know what the world cup cricket final result was can you text it through when you get chance
Dont forget www.justgiving.com/phil-marshall0
The atmosphere in the camp is awesome everybody just wants to help and encourage each other
Hope everybody is ok if you could forward on to everybody or re write email
Thanks
Love me xx
Day 2
Bloody hell this is hard day 2 done. 38km today with sand storms for most of the day
The camp is like a walking medical centre with everbody patching themselves up tp do it all again
It is impossible to convey the atmosphere here to you but the determination and fitness of the people here is amazing
I can hardly walk at the moment and my shoulders are giving me grief and im covered in sand not in my hair though. Because it is self suffient there are no washing facilities but it kind of adds to the atmosphere
The desert is both awesome but at the same time soul destroying that is where your mental strength comes into play I suppose
Thanks to those who have sent me emails they are getting through cannot reply individually
Will keep trying to reply to texts but reception is hardly ever available (keep sending them though because it keeps my spirits up when I do get them)
Hope you are able to follow me on the GPS system
Love to all
