Shadow Children’s Minister Tim Loughton says that children who have sex under 16 should be prosecuted, effectively criminalising teenage mothers. A LIFE spokesperson says: ‘Tim Loughton is chasing headlines and creating soundbites for the press. A complex issue like teenage pregnancy can’t be fixed with one Draconian measure.

LIFE, the UK’s leading pro-life charity, says it isn’t surprised at recent research showing that the morning-after pill (MAP) does not cut teenage pregnancy.

A LIFE spokesperson said: ‘This is yet another example of the Government’s deeply flawed Teenage Pregnancy Strategy. Year after year they throw millions of pounds worth of taxpayers’ money at the problem and all they do is make things worse.

LIFE, the UK’s leading pro-life charity, says that the decision to allow condoms to be advertised on daytime TV, is effectively giving children the green-light to be sexually active.

A LIFE spokesperson said: ‘The new UK Advertising code on condoms follows advice from the Government’s Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health who claim that greater access to condoms will reduce teen pregnancies and STIs.

A lobby organised by leading pro-life charity LIFE has won a battle, if the not the war, against the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) who, considering proposals to allow commercial abortion providers to advertise on TV and radio, have decided that, for the moment, this change will not take place.

A leading Swiss condom manufacturer marketing extra small condoms aimed at 12-year-old boys in Switzerland, has said that marketing the product in the UK would be a ‘top priority’ given our high teenage pregnancy rate.

A LIFE spokesperson says: ‘This is the blatant exploitation of children to make money. It’s mindboggling that family planning groups in Switzerland campaigned to have these condoms made.
