Sign our online petition calling on the Government to ensure that women seeking abortion receive professional counselling and information on the possible risks to their mental health.
First came our Early Day Motion (EDM 834) calling for pre-abortion counselling, etc. Quite fortuitously, this was reinforced by an opinion poll by ComRes, commissioned by Christian Concern, which (among other things) reported that 90 per cent of women think that doctors should be required to warn of the dangers of induced abortion to women's health.
Then, last Tuesday evening, Nadine Dorries MP (off her own bat) initiated a debate in the Commons on abortion and informed consent to which the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health replied. At the end of her speech she said (astonishingly) that, yes, ‘informed consent… counselling ..and the right support' should be provided for women presenting for abortion to ‘ensure that we do not fail them for the future.'
We have written to the Minister asking her to act on her words.
But to increase the pressure PLEASE sign our petition calling on the Government to act at once to protect women by requiring pre-abortion professional counselling, a cooling-off period, etc.

Please get as many other people as possible to do likewise. And if you haven't written to your MP asking him/her to sign EDM 834 please do so asap. Write to The House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.
