Infertility Treatment
Who can benefit from Life FertilityCare and NaProTechnology?
Married couples struggling with
- Primary infertility (have never been able to conceive)
- Secondary infertility (unable to conceive a further desired child)
- Previous miscarriage
Life FertilityCare offers a systematic and holistic approach to assessing the issues contributing to their situation. In addition through NaProTechnology couples can access practical medical help directed to supporting their fertility potential. This improves the
opportunity for a successful pregnancy outcome.
Couples with diagnoses such as unexplained infertility, endometriosis, reduced male fertility, polycystic ovaries/PCOS, anovulation, failed IVF and recurrent or unexplained miscarriage have all had successful pregnancies with Life FertilityCare and NaProTechnology.
*We cannot treat couples where azoospermia (complete absence of male fertility), bilaterally (both) blocked fallopian tubes or established menopause are the cause of the infertility.
Each woman and couple are unique and each fertility cycle is unique. We put all of our energy into finding the underlying cause for failure to conceive. We consider the individualised record of the day by day events of each fertility cycle. The tool with which this record is obtained and recorded is the Creighton Model FertilityCare System. Couples become true partners with the FertilityCare professionals in gathering baseline standardised observations/information. Recording the ‘biomarkers' of cycles often reveals previously missed or overlooked abnormalities of cycle patterns - simply because this most basic of information is not recorded in a standardised, interpretable way.
The medical science of NaProTechnology interprets these observations that often reflect abnormal reproductive function. When such abnormalities e.g. reduced cervical mucus flow, unusual bleeding/spotting patterns, suboptimal hormonal surges etc. are detected further investigations and treatment can be targeted at the likely cause. All our medical investigations and treatments are appropriately timed with the individual cycle pattern. Thus contributing factors to a couple's infertility are identified and treated and do not remain ignored or bypassed. Our medical treatment aims to ‘normalise 'reproductive potential as far as possible and improve the body's environment for natural conception.
Many couples enquire about the help that the Life FertilityCare Clinic can offer to couples where a male subfertility factor has been identified e.g. low count, poor motility or reduced normal numbers of sperm (poor morphology). This is because they perceive that the emphasis on recording the woman's cycle pattern may not be appropriate to their particular problem.
Considering a husband's fertility first; many men will demonstrate varying fertility depending on their general health, stress, lifestyle factors, current medication etc. Sub-clinical infections or immunological issues can affect sperm quality. Repeated testing, after identified factors are addressed, may result in improved fertility parameters. If that is not the case then depending on the severity of the subfertility there are a limited number of strategies that may improve the situation. These may be addressed within the NaProTechnology remit or include referral to an andrologist or urologist.
At the LIFE FertilityCare clinic we view fertility as a couple issue. For instance, in nature sperm survival is directly linked with female cervical mucus production. Routine medical investigations often miss co-existing subtle female abnormalities. By careful monitoring of the female cycle such factors are identified, investigated and supported with medication where indicated. This way the couple's joint fertility can usually be improved.
Crucially, through the couple's jointly recorded fertility cycle record they are able to identify the optimal window for potential conception even though this may be reduced when compared to a normally fertile couple's ‘window of opportunity'. Couples in this situation in the Life FertilityCare Clinic and other FertilityCare/NaProTechnology clinics around the world have conceived in these circumstances.
The first phase of our programme involves teaching a couple how to understand and chart their fertility cycles with the help and support of a qualified FertilityCare practitioner.
Charting is a helpful diagnostic tool and is vital to identifying any problems. Charting highlights your unique fertility pattern.
As soon as the basic charting technique is mastered, the collection of accurately timed investigations, usually blood tests, begins.
The second phase of treatment will be tailored to your individual medical problem. It will include ultrasound scanning.
All treatments recommended are designed to improve the opportunity and body's environment for natural conception to occur.
Advice about the reproductive health of you and your spouse will be offered. If appropriate, further investigation, including possible surgery, will also be advised.
It is important to note that the medicines used in FertilityCare are widely used in other fertility programmes. However, the precise timing and monitoring of treatment, linked to charting observations, are unique to FertilityCare.

(From 2010 client audit)
"Very personalised, particularly when compared to NHS-one-size-fits-all. The treatment was designed + monitored for my body whereas in NHS I was prescribed drugs but no follow-up on effectiveness or appropriateness."
"Very personal care, genuine concern for the couple and any possible pregnancy."
"Completely hatural and therefore ethical. Enabled understanding of the fertility cycle. Entirely person centred and adaptable."
