Following latest research from Ireland -

LIFE Urges Department of Health - No more denial of the abortion breast cancer link

LIFE is urging policy makers to take heed of new research highlighting the many positive effects of the restrictive abortion laws in the Republic of Ireland, not least a greatly reduced incidence of breast cancer.
Ireland's Gain by Patrick Carroll of the Pension and Population Research Institute in London, examines the demographic impact for women's health of abortion laws in Ireland and Northern Ireland since 1968, and unearths some convincing evidence of the devastating effects of other countries' liberal abortion laws.

Speaking today, LIFE National Chairman Professor Jack Scarisbrick, says: “This latest research lends yet further weight to claims that abortion is a leading factor in breast cancer.  But it also points to many more damaging effects.  Premature birth rates, stillbirth rates, mental health resource usage and medication for mental health issues - all of these are significantly lower in Ireland where abortion rates are low too.
“But Ireland also enjoys birth rates near replacement level (unlike, for instance, Scotland) and therefore a much more youthful population, less reliance on immigration and less strain on public expenses.
“The implications of all this are immense and can no longer be ignored.  For years, Carroll (amongst others) has insisted that not only do the statistics bear out a link between abortion and breast cancer (the ABC link) but that rates of breast cancer in the future can be accurately predicted using abortion figures.
“This latest Irish research backs up his theory yet further.  Time and again, what is predicted to happen (using abortion figures) does happen; as abortion rises so do breast cancer rates, stillbirths and premature births.  Here, Carroll has demonstrated, beyond statistical significance, that these events could not have happened by chance and that his theory on the effects of abortion are, indeed, correct.
“It is time, now, to abandon misguided and dangerous political correctness and spread the news about this research.  It must be used to guide and inform national policy and public health legislation on women's health issues - as a matter of urgency.   I urge the Department of Health to look at Carroll's work.”
