NaPro Technology

Natural Procreative Technology (NaProTechnology) is a medical approach to woman’s gynaecological health that integrates information from the woman’s cycle with other medical tests.

For medicine to use the woman’s cycle information, this information has to be recorded in an interpretable way. The development of the Creighton Model FertilityCare charting system was fundamental to the development of NaProTechnology as it provided, for the first time, a sufficiently precise way of capturing the woman’s cycle pattern.

NaProTechnology was developed in the early 1990’s as a result of decades of detailed study of women’s cycles. During this time it became apparent that women with similar medical complaints presented with similar charting patterns. Once these women were offered medical treatment the results were reflected on their charts.

During NaProTechnology treatment the charting pattern is considered a crucial aspect in the ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness. Throughout the world research is continuing to further develop NaProTechnology. Life FertilityCare is one of the centres participating in ‘The International NaProTechnology Evaluation and Surveillance of Treatment (iNEST)’ study. (www.iirrrm.org)
