Stuart Cowie, Head of Education
Stuart has worked for LIFE since December 2009. A graduate in International Development, Stuart brings a wide range of experience, from other charities and from the private sector, to his role as Head of department. He is a family man, with great enthusiasm for the trombone, which he plays in a funk band.
Michaela Aston, Senior Education & Media Officer (Kent & Sussex region)
A graduate from Queen's University, Belfast and an experienced secondary school English teacher, Michaela is also an experienced counsellor for LIFE. She presents and participates in talks, conferences and debates at schools, colleges and universities on issues concerning human life and teenage relationships and sex. As a key media spokesperson for LIFE, she appears regularly on both local and national radio and television.
Mark Bhagwandin, Senior Education & Media Officer (Thames Valley region)
Mark is a former Guyanese journalist with over ten years experience in the media, his last position being Editor-in-Chief of the Guyana Broadcasting Corporation. He took a degree in Communications at University of Guyana followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in International Studies. He came to London in 2002 to read for a Masters Degree in International Journalism at City University. After graduating, he joined LIFE on April Fools' Day 2004. Mark is a devout Hindu who thinks his Karma means he today has to be the one answering questions from the press rather than asking them.
Niall Gooch, Education & Research Officer (London region)
He has worked for LIFE since 2005. For his undergraduate degree, Niall read History at the University of Oxford and is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Bioethics. He enjoys long-distance running and has particularly enjoyed his role in developing new LIFE conferences.
Jane Ingram, Education Officer (Southern region)
Jane has been actively involved with pro-life charities for the past 19 years; 3 years of which were spent working in an American crisis pregnancy care centre, Birthright, In Houston, Texas. On returning to the UK, she volunteered as a trained listener for LIFE in the Southampton and is now part of LIFE's Education team. She has spoken to thousands of young people encouraging them to understand the realities of abortion and other related life issues from a pro-life point of view.
Anne Scanlan, Education & Media Officer (London region)
Born and raised in Dublin, Anne has lived all her adult life in London. She is married with three children and holds a BA (Hons) Architecture, Diploma in Architecture and Adult Education Teaching Certificate. She worked for many years as an architect and became Director in a London Architectural Practice in 1989. Anne trained as a skilled helper with LIFE in 1991 and spent four years volunteering with LIFE's Care service before becoming a LIFE speaker. Anne loves the energy and enthusiasm of young people and enjoys debating topical issues with them. In her spare time she enjoys DIY.
