Heavy drinking is associated with miscarriage, and could have serious effects on the baby.

1 Unit = 1 small glass of wine, a single measure of spirit. A pint of ordinary strength beer, lager or cider is between 2 and 3 units, while some stronger beers can be as high as 3 or even 4 units.
